At the 2nd China (Songxia) Umbrella Culture and Creativity Expo, the umbrella industry showcased innovations blending modern culture, eco-awareness, and technology with traditional Chinese elements.
The reverse folding umbrella folds inward, protecting fabric and preventing dripping—ideal for getting into cars or indoors.
Another highlight was the power bank umbrella, featuring a 2000mAh battery in the handle and a dual-headed cable for Apple and Android devices—perfect for rainy-day charging.
Design-wise, umbrellas from Dongshi Town, Fujian, used oil painting and scenic patterns, replacing dull geometry and gaining popularity in Europe and the U.S. Others featured traditional elements like the 24 solar terms and five elements, in collaboration with museums. High-end handles made of gemstone copper, enamel, and metal added luxury, with some umbrellas priced over 1,000 yuan overseas.
Material innovation also shined. Nano fabrics offer excellent waterproofing—water rolls off instantly—but support only solid colors due to tech limits.
Eco-friendly transparent umbrellas made from recyclable PVC or POE and reusable frames are fully recyclable and highly water-resistant, popular in Japan and South Korea.
The expo reflected the industry’s advances in materials, design, and function—signaling a shift toward more creative, diverse, and sustainable development.
